Antique Bull Pendant in Bone & 9 Carat Gold; Circa 1880

An unusual Victorian pendant that has been hand carved from bone into a three dimensional bull’s head. Full of character and beautifully tactile, the carving captures the strong features of the animal in surprisingly fine detail.

The bull is adorned with yellow gold decoration, with the backing and horns created in gold to create a wonderful contrast between the creamy, organic tone of the carved bone and the richness of the metal. 

We particularly love the almost talismanic quality of this piece. It is not delicate or overly decorative, but instead has a wonderfully primitive and yet refined with fine gold. A antique curiosity that immediately catches the eye.
