A deeply personal and beautifully detailed Georgian mourning ring which is created in warm 9 carat rose gold. At its centre sits a glazed locket compartment, a treasured feature of mourning jewellery intended to hold a tangible memory of a loved one.

The locket is surrounded by a delicate halo of pearls, traditionally symbolising tears shed in grief. Within, a border of blue enamel frames finely plaited locks of hair; a striking survival in itself. Laid upon the hair are three interwoven initials formed in real gold: “LCG.” This rare and intimate detail adds extraordinary depth and individuality to the piece.

Completing the story, the reverse of the band is engraved with a further set of initials, “BMB,” hinting at the personal relationships behind the ring’s creation. Or a dedication to another lost loved on; a friend or family member.

Thoughtful, symbolic, and exceptionally moving, this ring is a remarkable example of Georgian mourning jewellery.  Rich in sentiment, craftsmanship, and human history, and preserved with its most intimate details intact.
