Vintage Agate Intaglio Ring in 9 Carat Gold; Circa 1940

A wonderful ring dating to around the 1940's.  Created in 9 carat gold and set with a lovely green agate intaglio. The stone has been carved to depict the profile of a Roman centurion. A classic motif that has been used for centuries to convey strength, courage, and leadership.

The rich green hue of the stone catches the light beautifully, bringing depth to the carving and highlighting its fine details. The 9 carat gold setting provides the perfect complement. It's warm, smooth, and very understated, allowing the intaglio to be than main focus. 

Intaglio rings like this have long been cherished as powerful symbols of heritage and identity, often passed down through generations. This particular example has both presence and timeless design.

AGATE: 11 x 9mm approximately

HALLMARKING: 9 + 375 (9 carat gold) crown (pictorial mark for gold) Three Towers (Chester Assay office) 

CONDITION: the ring is in lovely antique condition and ready to wear and complete any outfit. There is patina of wear of a ring of this era as well as a possible historical sizing. There is traces of historical wax in the intaglio we have left this, however it can easily be removed
