A sentimental and beautiful collectors ring, this piece marks the passing of a dearly loved one during the Victorian era. This ring is in exceptional design with a beautiful tactile feel on the hand
We not only appreciate the story behind mourning rings, but we also love how it epitomises Victorian sentimental jewellery. Mourning jewellery became popular in the Georgian and Victorian era as a way of remembering those who have passed. They are testaments to the adoration of one to another.
The front of this ring features a band of black enamel work. Widening at the middle it has been set with a wonderful diamond foliage motif. The facets of the diamonds sparkling in the light and contrasting against the deep enamel work. Within the band we have a poignant engraving which reads ‘SLD died 13th Sep 1875‘
This jewel is in remarkable condition considering its 170 years of age. We adore the sentimental meaning as well the highly ornate and exceptional design work. The entire piece is created from the best 9 carat gold gold, its deep buttery glow bringing exceptional quality to the ring.
This would make an amazing addition to any jewellery lovers collection. Not just an beautiful ring, but a piece of love in history.
