About this treasure:

Filled with love this beautiful collectors piece marks the passing of Ann Tweedle in 1870. This ring is in exceptional condition with a beautifully ornate design.

We not only appreciate the story behind this ring, but we also love how it epitomises Victorian sentimental jewellery. Mourning jewellery became popular in the Georgian and Victorian era as a way of remembering those who have passed. They are testaments to the adoration of one to another.

The front of the ring features features three larger graduating diamonds with additional four accent diamonds on the top and bottom. These are all surrounded by a weaving design of black enamel. We adore the contrast of the sparkle of the old cut diamonds and deep black enamel work. This is all created in butter 18 carat gold.

The ring itself is highly ornate featuring fine chase work around the entire band. Within this we have open panels which would have revealed locks of Ann‘s hair which has been safely set inside the band. Unfortunately these have been lost in time.

Engraved inside we have ‘Ann Tweedale Ob 11 March 1870. The engraving is beautifully completed all by hand and is still as clear and crisp today as it was when first added. Through our research we have been able to track Ann down in archival documents. We have found that Ann loved in Lower Fold Healy in the Rochdale area of England. When she passed in 1870 she had not married but had siblings, a brother and sister

This jewel is in remarkable condition considering its 150 years of age. We adore the sentimental meaning as well the highly ornate and exceptional design work. The owner of this ring paid for one of the finest examples they could commission to mark the passing of their loved one Ann.

This would make an amazing addition to any jewellery lovers collection. Not just an beautiful ring, but a piece of love in history.
