Snakes have been used in jewellery as far back as ancient Egypt. However the cult of snake jewellery became highly desirable in Victorian times as Prince Albert proposed to the soon to be Queen Victoria with a golden snake ring. It symbolised in Victorian times love and the promise of happier ever after
This Edwardian ring features five amazing graduating diamonds leading around the body. They have a particularly lovely sparkle due to their hand cut facets. The contrast between the rich 18 carat gold and crisp diamonds give this ring a pure elegance. Its a a truly timeless antique ring.
Dating to 1900 this is a wonderful example as it features the wider coiled body which gives it a satisfying weight on the hand. The head of the snake sits proud meaning it can be worn against another band and the head will overlap this.
