Antique Edwardian Opal Band in 18 Carat Gold; Circa 1900

A tactile and substantial antique ring. This sort after design has been created in buttery 18 carat gold and dates to 1900; a detail we know from a lovely hand engraving still within the band. 

The ring is a 9mm wide, flat gold band, giving it a wonderful weight and presence on the hand. The broad surface of the 18 carat gold catches the light beautifully, while the simplicity of the band allows the unusual central setting to take centre stage.

Set within the band is an oval opal, surrounded by a celestial star setting. The softly glowing colours of the opal sit beautifully against the rich warmth of the gold, creating a striking contrast between the boldness of the band and the ethereal quality of the stone.

Inside the ring is perhaps its most poignant detail: an inscription reading “LP to LO 1900”. A tiny message preserved within the gold, it suggests that this was a personal jewel. More than 125 years later, the sentiment remains quietly hidden inside the band.

A beautiful antique ring with real presence, but also a wonderfully intimate story. Tactile and full of history, with a little piece of love preserved within it.
