Filled with love this beautiful jewel would be a wonderful addition to any jewellery lovers collection. Created in the early Victorian era this piece would have marked the passing of a cherished loved one, this mourning ring truly captured a moment of love in time.

The front panel of this ring has been set with a black enamel panel. In the centre of this is a bright white old cut diamond set into a celestial star setting. The contrast of the white diamond‘s sparkle and flat enamel is striking!

Leading down this central panel are ornate engraving shoulders which would have been once filled will black enamel work. Traces of this can still be seen. The carved lettering can still be seen to read ‘in memory of‘. The use of Gothic font perfectly sums up the look of the era.

Looking within the band we have the hand engraved dedication ‘ Geo. Wilmot died 13 Sep 1836 Aged 62‘. This ring would have been commissioned by Geoffrey‘s loved ones to remember him after his passing.

The ring itself is created from 18 carat gold. One of the highest fineness, the ring has a rich buttery gold hue and exudes quality and craftsmanship. This is an exquisite made antique ring and in lovely condition!

We not only love the story behind mourning jewellery, but we also love how it epitomises antique sentimental jewellery. Mourning jewellery became popular in the Georgian and Victorian era as a way of remembering those who have passed. They are testaments to the adoration of one to another. They have always been cherished by alter generations and has certainly seen a huge revival in recent years

This is a rare ring. Its ornate, beautifully, wrapped in history and truly unique.
