Antique Sentimental 'Kate' Locket Brooch

A wonderfully sentimental Victorian brooch, dating to 1876 and carrying a deeply personal story from nearly 150 years ago. A moment of love captured from so long ago. 

Created in sterling silver at the centre sits a glazed locket compartment which opens to reveal its most touching feature. The name Kate rendered in applied lettering. More than a simple piece of jewellery, this is a personal keepsake, created to show how much Kate was loved. 

Victorian jewellery was often imbued with layers of meaning and sentiment, and named pieces such as this are particularly evocative. We cannot help but think about Kate. Was she a beloved wife, daughter, sister, or cherished friend. The survival of her name transforms the brooch into a tangible connection to a real person and a real story.

Condition: This is overall lovely antique condition with only a fine patina over the brooch - the pin closes however isn't the most secure but can be worn.
