A wonderful antique ring, combining ancient mythology with a beautifully carved antique gemstone.
Created in 9 carat gold, the ring has an almost signet like design, with clean lines and an understated graduating mount that allows the central stone to take centre stage. Set to the top is a stunning carved green agate, designed as a stylised scarab beetle.
The agate possesses a wonderfully luminous and fresh green hue, glowing beautifully in the light. The carving has transformed the gemstone into a miniature work of art while retaining the clean, wearable feel of the ring.
The scarab has been a powerful symbol for thousands of years, most famously in Ancient Egypt where it represented renewal, protection and rebirth. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, scarab jewellery enjoyed immense popularity as interest in the ancient world grew.
There is a wonderful balance to the ring. The simplicity of the gold mount paired with the intricate carving and vibrant colour of the agate creates a piece that feels both bold and mysterious.
