Antique Georgian Glass Paste Intaglio Squirrel Fob Pendant

A charming Georgian intaglio pendant, delicate in scale and full of antique character. A sublime woodland creature captured in jewellery form and treasured so long ago.

The pendant is set within a simple pinchbeck mount, its warm golden tones beautifully complementing the clear glass/paste intaglio at the centre. Finely engraved into the surface is a little squirrel, captured with lovely detail.

Animal intaglios were highly popular during the Georgian era, often chosen for their symbolism or simply as treasured personal motifs. The squirrel, associated with resourcefulness, and preparation, lends the piece an endearing personality.

There is a small minor chip to one side of the intaglio, commensurate with the piece’s considerable age. However, this does not detract from the overall beauty or wearability of the pendant, which retains all the wonderful feel and soul of a genuine Georgian jewel.

Condition: This is overall lovely antique condition with only a fine patina over the pinchbeck and paste in line with age. As can be seen on the pictures there is a small chip on the far right however this doesn't effect the intaglio image and look of this piece.
