Antique Georgian Urn Mourning Ring in 9 Carat Gold; circa 1820

A beautiful piece of Georgian remembrance. This mourning ring carries not only the sentiment of its original use but also a later inscription that speaks to its life as a treasured heirloom.

The front panel features a finely detailed urn in gold and enamel and surrounded by a delicate halo of pearls. The urn was a familiar motif in Georgian mourning jewellery. The soft lustre of the pearls adds a lovely contrast to the enamelled design, creating a piece that feels both intimate and quietly ornate.

Created in 9 carat gold, the ring also bears a sweet later hand engraving inside the band. Turn the ring over and the main panel is engraved “25th Sep D 1915”. This later dedication suggests the ring continued to hold meaning long after its original creation, cherished anew.
