Antique Heavy Chain Ring in Silver; Circa 1890

An exceptionally substantial ring, made from what was once a Victorian silver curb chain. Most likely originally worn as a pocket watch chain this has been lovingly converted into a sort after ring

The huge, chunky links wrap all the way around the finger, creating an almost sculptural effect. At over 16 grams, this is one of the heaviest chain rings we have come across, with a very satisfying weight on the hand.

One of our favourite details is that each individual link bears the silver lion passant mark, meaning the hallmarks travel around the entire ring rather than being confined to a single discreet area. It is a lovely little reminder of the ring's earlier life.

We love the industrial quality of the enormous links contrasted with the softness of their age and wear. It is tactile, weighty and wonderfully imperfect. The sort of ring you can't help but play with.
