Antique Scottish Ship Silver Token; Circa 1912

A charming and unusual silver pendant token. This antique pendant dates to 1912 and has been created in a crisp sterling silver.

The piece takes the form of a simple detailed disc, decorated to the centre with a heraldic shield engraved with a sailing ship. The maritime imagery gives the pendant a particularly charming character, evoking Scotland's long association with shipbuilding, trade and the sea.

Perhaps most intriguing is its Glasgow hallmark, an unusual mark to encounter and one that adds a lovely layer of Scottish provenance to this already distinctive little jewel. Glasgow was an important centre of Scottish silversmithing, but examples bearing its hallmark are far less frequently encountered than those from the better known assay offices.

A small but fascinating piece of silver history. A jewel from the early 1900's and carrying both a sense of place and a wonderful maritime symbol.

CONDITION: This is in lovely antique condition with some subtle signs of historical sizing at the back of the band as well as an overall wear from 200 years of love and wear.
