An extraordinary survivor of the Stuart period, this exquisite early eighteenth century brooch is a relic English history.
Originally created as the clasp for a substantial necklace, this impressive piece has been historically converted into a brooch. Fashioned in 15 carat gold, it remains in exceptional condition for a jewel of such considerable age.
At its heart lies a domed panel of crystal clear rock crystal, beneath which sits an intricate knotted gold wire cypher. Delicate flashes of gold-pink foil shimmer beneath the design.
Rare, beautifully preserved and rich in provenance and symbolism, this remarkable Stuart jewel is more than an antique brooch. It is a surviving fragment of history, carrying the stories and sentiments of more than three centuries.
