A beautiful and deeply sentimental Georgian mourning ring, rich in symbolism and quality craftsmanship.
Created in 9 carat gold in the earl 1800's the ring is designed with a large round central panel. At the heart of this sits a glazed locket compartment containing a lock of hair; a deeply personal and intimate memorial to a lost loved one.
Surrounding the central locket is a soft halo of pearls, their gentle lustre symbolising tears and remembrance in antique mourning jewellery. Beyond this sits a striking border of white and blue enamel, an unusual and elegant colour combination that sets this piece apart from more traditional mourning designs.
The layering of materials creates a ring that is both visually beautiful and emotionally resonant. Reflecting the Georgian era’s approach to remembrance through jewellery.
A rare and evocative antique ring, full of history, sentiment, and individuality, and a wonderful example of Georgian mourning jewellery.
