Antique Carnelian Signet Ring in 18 Carat Gold; Circa 1880

A totally timeless example of the sort after antique signet ring. This is a beautiful piece of victorian jewellery. 

The most striking element of this piece is that central carnelian stone. Cut into a an exaggerated shield design is warm burnt carnelian with a orange glow immediately catches the eye. This is clearly a dearly loved piece as it is in wonderful condition.

Next we have the setting. No expense has been spared with a remarkably weighty 18 carat gold signet ring setting. Chunky and tactile is has small flowing motifs; a wonderful example of the Victorian love to have to have no angle not designed or thought of.
