Antique Enamel 'Wycollar' Wire Fox Terrier Signet Ring in 18 Carat Gold

A truly exceptional and rare antique signet ring, created in buttery 18 carat gold and rich in both character and provenance. The ring is boldly designed with a beautifully hand painted enamel portrait of a Wire Fox Terrier, executed with remarkable detail and charm.

This ring carries a fascinating history. It was presented as a gift to J. W. Turner, the British breeder and agent responsible for selling the world famous Wire Fox Terrier Wycollar Boy to America. Wycollar Boy achieved international acclaim and was sold for a then world record price, a milestone moment in pedigree dog history. In recognition of this extraordinary sale, the ring was gifted to Turner as a personal token of achievement. We have found a picture of Wycollar which is a lovely connection to the ring and allows the quality of enamel work to be appreciated.

The weight and presence of the 18 carat gold signet gives the ring a tactile feel on the hand and the enamel portrait transforms it into a miniature work of art. More than a piece of jewellery, this is a rare historical relic. .
