Antique Amethyst Goddess Hecate Cameo Ring

A truly unique ring! Created from the marriage of two antique Victorian components and preserving their history in a striking and wearable design. This is a once in a lifetime piece.

The centrepiece began life as a Victorian scarf clip and features an exquisite hand carved amethyst cameo. Beautifully executed, the cameo depicts the goddess Hecate, her head turned gently to one side in a wonderfully naturalistic pose. She is shown with her crescent moon with her serpents set either side in gold. 

In Greek mythology, Hecate was the goddess of magic, the moon, and protection. A powerful and enigmatic figure, she was often associated with wisdom, and guidance through times of transition. Her enduring symbolism has made her a fascinating subject in jewellery for centuries.

The cameo has been thoughtfully mounted onto a substantial 18 carat gold band which is hallmarked 1861. The wide band provides the perfect setting, allowing the intricately carved amethyst to take centre stage while creating a bold yet elegant ring with wonderful presence on the hand.
