Antique Amethyst Intaglio Fob Pendant

A darling petite antique intaglio fob, full of colour, character, and history. This is as magical today as it was over 130 plus years ago. 

Created in 9 carat gold, the fob has a beautifully proportioned setting that complements the vibrant amethyst intaglio suspended below. The lively purple stone catches the light beautifully.

The intaglio has been finely hand engraved with the name “Maria,” although the style of the lettering gives the appearance of “Merria.” Whether this reflects an historical spelling, a regional variation, or simply the engraver's hand, it adds a layer of intrigue to the piece.

Originally intended for use as a personal seal, fobs such as this were both practical and deeply personal, often bearing names, initials, or mottos unique to their owner.
