Antique Sentimental Swivel Intaglio Fob in 9 Carat Gold; Circa 1860

A deeply romantic and symbolic antique pendant. Originally created as an ornate 9 carat gold watch winder and in demand now was unique pendants. This beautiful piece is designed as a swivel, revealing two finely carved intaglios; each rich in meaning and sentiment.

One side features a pale white glass intaglio delicately engraved with a forget-me-not flower. In Victorian symbolism, the forget-me-not represented remembrance and enduring love. A quiet but powerful message often chosen for sentimental or mourning jewellery.

The reverse displays a soft green intaglio depicting an urn flanked by two birds. The urn is one of the most recognisable symbols of remembrance and mourning, representing the soul and eternal rest, while the birds signify the spirit in flight and the bond between loved ones, even after separation.

Crafted in warm 9ct gold, the pendant retains a wonderful antique patina and presence. The swivel design allows the wearer to choose which message to display, making it a deeply personal and meaningful jewel.
