A charming Victorian sentimental miniature fob, beautifully presented in an ornate gold cased setting. At its heart sits a lovely shield shaped citrine intaglio, finely carved with a delicate floral motif believed to represent a forget-me-not. The flower is rendered with wonderful attention to detail, its petals and stem softly engraved to create depth and character within the stone.
In Victorian symbolism, the forget-me-not held powerful meaning. Representing remembrance, enduring love, and faithful affection. It was often chosen for sentimental jewellery intended to commemorate a loved one; a cherished bond. Pieces such as this were deeply personal, worn close as quiet tokens of love rather than purely decorative adornments.
This miniature fob is a beautiful example of the Victorian fascination with symbolism and hidden meaning. Elegant yet intimate, it captures the romance of the era perfectly and stands as a timeless keepsake rich in history, sentiment, and craftsmanship.
