Victorian Agate Mourning Signet Ring in 18 Carat Gold

A striking and unusual mid Victorian mourning ring, beautifully combining bold design with deep sentimental meaning. 

Created in 18 carat gold, the ring is designed in the style of a signet ring, giving it a strong and substantial presence on the hand. At the centre sits a banded agate, its natural layers of black and white creating a dramatic and elegant contrast.

Encircling the stone is a ribbon of black enamel, delicately inscribed with the words “In Memory Of.” This classic mourning sentiment frames the agate beautifully. CONDITION: the ring is in good antique condition with only a fine patina to the gold and enamel. As noted above, there is a base metal panel soldered inside the band which has been used to reduced the finger size during its life stye.
