A rare and elegant pair of Edwardian French diamond earrings, beautifully preserved and accompanied by their original fitted box. A scarce and highly desirable survival from the period.
Created in rich 18 carat gold, each earring is a claw set drop style so characteristic of the early 20th century. At the centre of each sits a larger old cut diamond, surmounted by a smaller diamond above, creating a delicate sense of movement and light when worn. The hand cut stones display the softly irregular facets that give antique diamonds their unmistakable charm and romantic sparkle.
Together the diamonds have an approximate combined weight of 1.35 carats. They are of lower clarity with visible natural inclusions, a reminder of their natural formation, yet they remain lively stones, full of fire and personality. Rather than detracting, these characteristics speak to their authenticity and antique origin.
The design is timeless and refined, sitting beautifully on the ear and as wearable today as they were over a century ago. Their survival alongside the original presentation box makes the pair particularly special, offering a rare glimpse into how they would have first been treasured.
An exceptional and romantic pair of French Edwardian earrings. Elegant, authentic, and increasingly hard to find, especially with their original box.
