A wonderfully charming antique ring, full of personality and delicate craftsmanship. A miniature work of art.
Created in 9 carat gold, the ring is set with a beautifully hand carved and painted Essex crystal depicting what we believe to be a Jack Russell terrier. Full of expression and lifelike detail, the little dog has been captured with remarkable character.
Essex crystals are created through an intricate process in which the image is reverse carved into crystal and then carefully painted by hand, producing a miniature scene with wonderful depth and realism beneath the smooth domed surface. These pieces were highly prized during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, often commissioned to depict beloved animals and cherished companions.
The simplicity of the gold mount allows the crystal to take centre stage, while the warm tone of the 9 carat gold complements the soft colouring of the miniature portrait beautifully.
