A jewel of two sides, rich in symbolism and beautifully created at the close of the Victorian era.
Hallmarked for 1899, this elegant Victorian spinner fob pendant has been created in warm 9 carat rose gold, its gently aged tones perfectly complementing the richly coloured gemstones it is set with One side has a polished panel of deep green bloodstone. Smooth and understated, it offers a striking contrast to the ornate design found on the reverse.
Spin the fob over to reveal an exquisitely hand carved carnelian intaglio depicting a hand holding aloft a laurel wreath. Finely engraved, the design is crisp and full of character. Throughout history, the laurel wreath has represented triumph and achievement and was found throughout heraldic imagery.
Originally intended to hang from a gentleman's watch chain, spinner fobs were both practical and deeply personal, often engraved with names or heraldic motifs. Today, they have found a new life as sort after pendants. They're miniature works of art.
