A charming sentimental Victorian ring dating to the late nineteenth century. It has been created in rich 15 carat gold and designed around a charming oval locket compartment.
At the centre of the ring is an oval hinged locket, which opens to reveal a small compartment intended to hold a photograph, miniature keepsake or other treasured memento. These intimate little compartments allowed the wearer to carry something deeply personal close at hand, making rings such as this particularly poignant examples of Victorian sentimental jewellery.
The front of the locket has been beautifully hand engraved with the initials L G, giving the ring a personal connection to its original wearer or couple.
The warm glow of the 15 carat gold, combined with the practical yet deeply sentimental locket design, makes this a particularly charming survivor from the closing years of the Victorian era.
