A truly charming and 1931 silver medal, perfectly suited for a pendant. Created from gilt finished sterling silver and weighing just over 13 grams, this piece has a satisfying presence while remaining beautifully wearable.

The front is adorned with a highly detailed sweet pea floral arrangement, accompanied by the title “National Sweet Pea Society” and finely engraved “Awarded to Mr M. B. Hooper.” The reverse is equally detailed, featuring further floral decoration and the inscription “Instituted 1900,” marking the founding of the Society. We're delighted to say this comes with its original box.

The National Sweet Pea Society, established in 1900, played a key role in promoting and preserving sweet peas in Britain, organising exhibitions, encouraging new cultivars, and celebrating horticultural excellence. Sweet peas themselves were cherished not only for their fragrance and beauty but also for their symbolism. Often associated with pleasure, gratitude, and gentle joy.

A delightful and unusual piece of early 20th century history. Rich in craftsmanship and sentiment, and a wonderful keepsake that bridges the worlds of jewellery, gardening, and personal achievement
