Antique Victorian Rose Motto Fob Pendant

A small expressive Victorian seal fob, rich in symbolism and poetic charm.

This neat example is formed with an ornate base metal mount, delicately detailed and elegantly proportioned. It ends in a glass intaglio created to resemble bloodstone, with deep green tones flecked with red, echoing the appearance of the natural gem.

At the centre is a rose, a timeless emblem of love. Accompanying this is the touching motto The _ without a thorn, the picture and motto combining to make the entire verse. A romantic sentiment, suggesting a love untouched by imperfection. A poetic notion much cherished in Victorian symbolism.

This piece carries wonderful presence, combining visual richness with layered meaning. Fobs such as this were traditionally worn on a watch chain and used as seals, making them both decorative and personal objects. Today they are sort after pendants or charms.
