Antique Victorian Garnet Butterfly Ring; Circa 1860

A charming Victorian ring which has been designed in the enchanting form of a butterfly thats been brought to life with rich, glowing garnets.

The butterfly is beautifully articulated, with the garnets creating its wings and body in a wonderful composition of deep wine red colour. The stones have that characteristic warmth and depth found in antique garnets.

The butterfly was a particularly romantic motif during the Victorian era, often associated with transformation, beauty and the fleeting nature of life. It makes a sentimental subject for a jewel, giving this ring a little more meaning beyond its beautiful design.

HALLMARKING: Unhallmarked approx 9 carat gold with a base metal setting. 

CONDITION: the ring is in good antique condition with only a fine patina overall  one garnet is a later smaller replacement.
