Antique Victorian Carnelian Arabic Intaglio; Circa 1880

What a sublime ring. This captivating Victorian intaglio jewel has been created in rich 15 carat gold and has been set beautifully engraved carnelian.

The ring is designed with a classic bezel setting, securely framing a glowing rectangular carnelian intaglio. The stone displays a warm orange red hue that comes to life in the light, beautifully complemented by the mellow tones of the gold mount.

What makes this ring especially intriguing is the finely hand carved inscription engraved into the carnelian. We believe this to be an Arabic motto or inscription, although we have not yet been able to confidently decipher its exact meaning. The elegance of the script transforms the stone into a miniature work of art. We continue to research its origins in the hope of uncovering its story.

CONDITION: the ring is in lovely antique condition which fine patina across the gold and carnelian. There is a possible historical sizing at the back of the band.
