A charming and unusual early Victorian sentimental ring. Dating to 1850 it has been created in warm 9 carat gold and feels truly historical.
At the centre sits a lustrous pearl, beautifully framed within a scalloped enamel surround. The shoulders are particularly charming, designed with ornate crossed detailing. This has all the marks of deeply sentimental mourning ring worn by some to remember a lost love.
The enamel has gently worn away in places over its nearly two centuries of life, leaving behind the traces of its original decoration. We think this only adds to the character of the piece and shows that this was a ring that was genuinely loved and worn, rather than hidden away.
