A highly unusual and striking Victorian signet ring. Created in the form of a horseshoe its filled with symbolism and design representing luck, protection, and strength. The ring is made from warm 9 carat gold and weight over 8 grams making it a substantial piece of jewellery.
Set atop the ring is a carnelian intaglio, also cut in the shape of a horseshoe, creating a beautiful harmony between stone and setting. Onto the carnelian, a hand engraved scene of a horse and rider has been meticulously carved. The figure shown mid jump, galloping over grass with wonderful energy and movement. The engraving remains crisp and detailed, a testament to the skill of its original maker.
An exceptional and rare example of Victorian sporting jewellery. Full of character, symbolism, and craftsmanship. A perfect piece for collectors and lovers of equestrian history alike.

CONDITION: This is in lovely antique condition with an overall patina to wear to the gold and carnelian. There are a couple of minor nibbles to the edge of the carnelian.
