In the Victorian era, flowers were often used to secretly convey feelings and intentions between two people. Pansies like this were used to symbolise secret love or courting, making this a rare and sought after example.
Here we have a recreation of a pansy in its most beautiful form. Completed entirely by hand, the piece has been painted in fine enamel work. Deep, rich purples are brushed over softer lavender hues, while at the centre golden enamel shimmers perfectly against a central diamond. Claw set, this old cut stone glistens and sparkles when worn.
Created from 14 carat gold, the entire piece has a wonderful antique glow. Looking to the reverse, this may once have had a brooch fitting which has since been removed, allowing the focus to remain on the pendant setting.
Dating to the Victorian era, this piece would make a lovely addition to any jewellery collection, particularly for those who adore antique and sentimental jewels.
