An unusual Georgian fob pendant, created in the wonderfully tactile form of a three dimensional fox. Full of texture and character, the little fox has been beautifully modelled, giving the fob an almost sculptural quality.

The base of the fob is richly decorated with floral and thistle motifs, adding a distinctly Scottish character to the piece. Set within the base is a crisp carved amethyst intaglio, depicting a proud stag at its centre and accompanied by the Latin motto “Bene paratum dulce” -it's delightful to be well prepared.

This motto is associated with Clan Ogilvie/Ogilvy, a historic Scottish Lowland clan. The combination of the stag, thistle decoration and motto makes the Scottish connection particularly strong.

The amethyst itself adds another beautiful dimension to the piece, its deep purple hue contrasting wonderfully with the intricate gold work and the textured body of the fox. Fobs were traditionally worn from watch chains but are now high sort after pendants.

A truly charming Georgian curiosity, truly tactile and rich in symbolism. With its mischievous little fox, Scottish motifs and sublime quality it is a stunning treasure.
