Georgian Bird & Devil Intaglio Fob Pendant; Circa 1820

A highly sort after and unusual Georgian fob. This historical jewel has been beautifully created in three dimensions with the main body formed as an ornate bird perched upon a branch.

The sculptural bird is wonderfully detailed, giving the fob a charming sense of movement and life. The three dimensional design makes this feel more like a tiny piece of sculpture than a traditional fob.

The fob ends in a glowing red carnelian intaglio, hand engraved with the unexpected image of a devil fishing. The unusual subject matter makes this an especially intriguing little piece, combining the playful and the slightly mischievous within an otherwise beautifully crafted Georgian jewel.

A truly extraordinary Georgian curiosity. Ornate, sculptural and wonderfully eccentric, with a tiny devil fishing at the end.
