Georgian Bloodstone Fox Intaglio Fob in 9 Carat Gold; Circa 1830

A super characterful Georgian fob pendant, dating to the early 1800's. This antique jewels has been meticulously designed as a delightful three dimensional fox.

The little fox sits sweetly atop an engraved base, decorated with delicate floral details and rosebuds. Turn the pendant over and another lovely detail is seen. A rich green bloodstone seal, hand engraved with the initials ‘AJC’.

There is something particularly lovely about the contrast between the whimsical sculptural fox and the traditional engraved seal beneath. Fobs such as these were once practical everyday objects, worn on watch chains and used to stamp wax with a personal mark. Today, they offer a fascinating glimpse into Georgian life.
