Georgian Locket Ring in 9 Carat gold; Circa 1820

A deeply historical Georgian ring. This antique jewel dates to the early 1800s and has been wonderfully made in warm 9 carat gold.

The ring is formed as a softly graduating band, gently widening towards the centre where it holds an oval glazed locket compartment. Beneath the glass sits a piece of rich red silk creating a striking focal point against the warm gold. There is something particularly intriguing about the simplicity of this design. Rather than being adorned with gemstones, the ring's beauty lies in its intimate glazed compartment.

The softly rounded gold band and understated setting have a lovely Georgian character, while the surviving silk gives the ring a tangible connection to the person who once wore it.

WEIGHT: 3.06 grams approximately.  

CONDITION: This is in lovely antique condition with a fine patina across the gold ring and locket. There has been some repair work on a thinning section at the back of the ring. The glazed compartment has some wear as expected.
