Georgian Amethyst Intaglio ‘Steadily and Proudly’ Conversion Ring, Circa 18th Century

A remarkable Georgian intaglio seal, now beautifully converted into a ring and set atop a bespoke 9 carat gold mount. The vari-hued amethyst shifts gently between tones of soft lilac and violet, its subtle play of colour glowing warmly against the gold.

The stone is intricately engraved with a three masted ship sailing beneath a shining star, accompanied by the motto “Steadily and Proudly.” This finely detailed scene speaks of guidance, endurance. A vessel steadfastly following its course even amid uncertain seas. In Georgian symbolism, ships often represented the journey of life or the soul, while stars were emblems of hope, destiny, and divine light. Together, they form a powerful message of perseverance and purpose.

The intaglio, originally used as a personal seal, carries centuries of history within its carving. Its new setting in warm 9 carat gold allows it to be worn and admired once more. A union of ancient craftsmanship and vintage refinement.

CONDITION: This is in lovely preloved condition with only a tiny part of the further right left missing at the knee. Its location makes it very difficult to see.
