Edwardian Mythical Creature Intaglio Ring in 9 Carat Gold

A beautiful Edwardian ring dating to 1903 and filled with character. Set with a richly coloured carnelian intaglio expertly carved with a mythical dolphin/ whale. The creature has been rendered with remarkable precision; its form exquisitely detailed including scales tails and eyes. The more you look the more you see. 

The intaglio is mounted in a smooth 9 carat gold setting, its warm tone perfectly complementing the deep orange red of the central carnelian Elegant and full of character, this ring is a wonderful example of early 20th-century craftsmanship.  A piece that bridges mythology of the ancients and refined Edwardian design

CONDITION: This is in lovely antique condition with an overall patina to wear to the gold and carnelian. There looks to be a historical sizing on one edge by the stone.
