Edwardian Pearl "Souvenir" Locket Ring in 9 Carat Gold

Created in a subtle toned 9 carat rose gold, the ring has a soft warmth rather than the bright pink hue often associated with modern rose gold. The front panel is adorned with a heart motif framed by tiny pearl set stars, creating a design that feels both celestial and deeply sentimental.

The hinged panel lifts to reveal a hidden hand engraved message within 'Souvenir'. In historical sentimental jewellery, the word souvenir carried a far deeper meaning than its modern use. Derived from the French word meaning to remember, it was often used in Victorian and Edwardian jewellery to signify remembrance and affection. A token intended to keep the memory of a loved one close at all times.

Condition: This is overall lovely victorian condition with only a fine patina of wear to the gold. The setting remains lovely and secure with a good lick fastening. There is a historical sizing at the back only noticeable as the hallmarks have been partially lost.
