Victorian Pietra Dura Pansy Flower Ring in 9 Carat Gold

A deeply romantic Victorian ring, rich in symbolism and wonderful craftsmanship.

At its centre is a beautifully formed pansy, created in the Pietra Dura tradition using a combination of foiled glass and hard stone. The flower is wonderfully detailed bringing  the pansy to life with remarkable realism.

The pansy is held within a higher carat gold setting, which frames the motif with a buttery warmth. This sits atop an ornate mount, where twisted gold wirework adds texture and enhancing the ring’s charm. The band itself is created in 9 carat gold.

In Victorian jewellery, the pansy carried a particularly tender meaning. Derived from the French “pensée” meaning thought, it symbolised remembrance and love. Often given as a token to say “I am thinking of you.” As such, pansy jewels were imbued with subtle sentiment, making them especially meaningful gifts between loved ones.

Condition: This is overall in good Victorian condition - as can be seen I the pictures some of the inlay has little crackles from love and wear - however they are secure to be worn. The top panel if looking closely is verso slightly at an angle, this doesn't effect the comfort and what.
