An unusual mid Victorian ring which was discovered as a metal detecting find and now preserved as a fascinating little piece of history.
Created from base metal, the ring has been heavily misshapen over its lifetime, but despite this, the original design remains remarkably clear. Across the face of the ring can still be seen the sentimental Victorian motto 'FORGET ME NOT'.
There is something so evocative about a jewel like this. Bent, battered and weathered by time, it has clearly lived a life before being lost and eventually rediscovered. Rather than hiding its imperfections, we think they are what make this piece so special.
The forget me not was one of the most beloved sentimental motifs of the Victorian era, symbolising remembrance and the enduring memory of someone dear.
It would make a wonderful piece for someone who loves history, curiosities and sentimental jewellery. Given its shape and size, could be worn either as a ring or incorporated into a pendant or necklace.
