A superb example of Victorian craftsmanship, this substantial gypsy set ring is distinguished both by the quality of its materials and timeless design. Created in buttery 18 carat yellow gold and weighing over 7.5 grams, it has a satisfyingly weighty presence on the hand. A testament to the generous use of gold typical of the finest jewels of the period.
At its centre sits an oval old cut diamond of approximately 0.50 carats, an unusual choice in a gypsy ring, which were most often set with round stones. The elongated cut lends the piece an eye catching feel, its facets catching the light with a warm, antique sparkle that speaks to 19th century cutting style. The diamond is securely sunk into a smooth, high polished mount, the signature of the gypsy style, which was designed not only for durability but also for understated elegance.
This ring is a beautiful marriage of robust design and refined detail: a piece that celebrates Victorian aesthetic at its best. This was clearly made to be treasured and worn for a lifetime and more!
