Antique Amethyst Intaglio 'Recuerdo' Bracelet in 18 Carat Gold

A highly unusual and striking antique bracelet. Crafted in rich 18 carat gold and set with eight oval amethyst stones, together totalling approximately 20 carats. Each amethyst has been individually hand engraved with a single letter, and when read together they spell “RECUERDO.” The craftsmanship and design required to create such a piece make it truly exceptional.

In antique jewellery, recuerdo — Spanish for “I remember” or “remembrance” — was used in deeply sentimental pieces. Often given as tokens of love or memory. Jewellery bearing this word was intended to be worn close, serving as a constant reminder of a person, place or moment held dear.

The rich purple of the amethysts contrasts beautifully with the warmth of the gold setting, creating a jewel that is both visually powerful and emotionally resonant. The links have.a lovely engraved finish and a slightly spring set link which  means the expand . A tactile and fun element.
