A mesmerising ring of very unusual design. This victorian ring would be wonderful addition to any jewellery lover's collection, especially someone who loves the unusual and rare.
Set across the top of this ring we have a single carbuncle garnet. Beautifully shaped into curving cabochon, it follows the profile of the gold band below. Polished to create a rich red glow the stone has been set into a claw closed back mount. This setting means the light flows into the stone flashing vibrant crimson to the viewer. The term carbuncle historically comes from the Latin carbuncles, which means small coal referring to the fiery glow the stone emits.
Created in 1898 this very unusual ring has been set into 9 carat yellow gold. The warmth of the gold complementing the rich red of the garnet.
