A wonderful Georgian brooch filled with symbolism. Originally a gentleman’s fob and later thoughtfully converted, preserving its historic character and sentiment. At the centre sits a rich red carnelian, finely engraved with a thistle and the Scottish motto “Dinna forget.” The engraving is crisp and beautifully detailed, the warm glow of the carnelian giving the piece great depth.
The thistle is the national emblem of Scotland and symbolises resilience, loyalty and protection, while the phrase “Dinna forget” speaks of remembrance and enduring affection. Such mottos were often worn as tokens of loyalty, friendship or national pride, making pieces like this deeply personal as well as decorative.
A striking and meaningful Georgian jewel. A wearable fragment of history that carries both symbolic strength and romantic sentiment.
