Victorian Heavy Trombone & Lover's Knot Chain in Silver; circa 1893

A substantial and chunky Victorian silver chain, dating to 1893 and weighing an impressive 57.7 grams! 

The chain is formed from a beautiful combination of twisted trombone links and lover’s knot links, creating a tactile line with plenty of movement. 

There is something particularly appealing about wearing an object that was once such an everyday part of Victorian life. Made in 1893, this chain would originally have been worn across a gentleman’s waistcoat, holding his pocket watch safely in place. More than 130 years later, it can be worn as a statement necklace in its own right.

The substantial weight, intricate links and softly aged silver give it that wonderful tactile quality that only comes from a genuinely antique chain.

HALLMARKS: Sterling silver - many links feature the lion silver mark and date letter. 

LENGTH: Approx 16 inches length 

WEIGHT: 57.7 grams approximately.  

CONDITION: This is in lovely antique condition with a fine patina across the silver chains. The clips works securely.
