Victorian Lucky Ruby Kidney Bean Pendant 9 Carat Gold; Circa 1860

A charming and symbolic Victorian pendant. Created in warm 9 carat rose gold and formed as a lucky kidney bean; a much loved motif in 19th century jewellery. Set into the surface is a single old cut ruby, its deep red glow adding richness and contrast to the softly curved gold form.

The kidney bean was worn as a talisman of good fortune and protection. Its was believed to bring luck and positive energy to its wearer. Combined with ruby, long associated with passion and strength, the pendant becomes a deeply meaningful keepsake. As well as a beautiful jewel.
