Victorian Operculum Pendant in Silver; Circa 1890

A unique antique pendant featuring a natural operculum shell, beautifully set into a handmade sterling silver mount. The operculum , often called the “cat’s eye” or “Shiva eye”, displays organic spiralling patterns formed by nature, making each example entirely one of a kind.

The simple silver setting allows the shell to take centre stage, celebrating its natural texture and quiet beauty. Historically, operculum shells were worn as protective charms and talismans, valued for their connection to the sea and their symbolic associations with good fortune as well as warding off evil.
